Compressive Strength:
typically exceeds 5000 psi.
Coverage: 1 50# bag of OBP Self
Leveler will cover approximately 50 sq. ft. at 1/8" thickness.
1 gallon OBP FL Primers diluted 1:1 will cover approximately 300-sq.
ft. over smooth concrete.
Packaging: OBP Self Leveler is
packaged in 50# paper sacks. OBP FL40 & FL50 Primers are available
in 1 gallon and 5 gallon containers.
Surface Preparation:
Gypsum, asphalt, coal tar and most lightweight concrete are not
suitable substrates. If there is any doubt about the suitability
of the subfloor a OBP Technician should be contacted. All subfloors
must be cleaned, dried, and properly primed for a successful application.
Substrate temperature must be a minimum of 50 F. Always install
a test area to determine suitability of the system.
Priming: Interior
applications require OBP FL40 Primer - Exterior applications require
OBP FL50 Primer. Apply primer in a thin even coat using a brush
or broom. Extremely porous concrete may require two coats. Do not
use paint rollers, mops or spray equipment. If multiple layers of
leveler are installed, each layer should receive primer.
Applications:
Concrete - Floors must be sound, fully cured, free of moisture,
efflorescence, oil, curing agents, sealers, and any contaminant
which could act as a bond breaker. Unsound surfaces requiring cleaning
should be done by mechanical methods - shotblasting, scarifying
or similar. Acid etching is not an acceptable means of cleaning
the substrate.
Non-porous Floors:
Marble, terrazzo and ceramic tile must be solid and well bonded
to the floor. These surfaces must be cleaned of any waxes or contaminants
and primed with OBP FL50 Primer.
Plywood and Wood - Substrates shall be of exterior grade and shall
provide a clean, rigid, secure base. Spacing between plywood sheets
should be 3/16" to ¼". For floors receiving a tile
finish, nail or staple thin galvanized metal lath to the wood before
applying OBP Self Leveler.
Thickness of Application: OBP
Self Leveler may be installed from a feather edge to 1" neat
and up to 5" with the addition of a clean and well graded aggregate.
When adding aggregate add 1/3 to 1 part by volume. DO NOT USE SAND.
If aggregates are wet, the amount of water must be reduced. The
addition of aggregate will diminish workability and may require
the installation of a finishing layer.
Mixing: For
hand applications, mix no more than two bags at a time. 1 50# bag
of OBP Self Leveler requires 5 quarts of potable water. DO NOT OVERWATER.
Put all of the mixing water into the mixing container first. Add
the Floor Leveler and mix thoroughly with a heavy-duty drill and
non-air entraining mixing paddle. OBP Self Leveler may be mixed
and pumped using Chemgrout or Airplaco Pumps.
Placing Always
install several test areas to ensure suitability. Pour the thoroughly
mixed material on the floor and spread using a spreader. Immediately
smooth the material using a finishing blade. Sufficient material
should be used to cover all high points. Wear spiked shoes when
walking in the wet material. Protect the poured floor from extreme
weather conditions just as you would any concrete placement. The
finished floor should be ready for foot traffic in 1 hour and floor
covering in 3 - 6 hours. Weather conditions and substrate temperatures
can affect these cure times.
